Walk-In Shower Conversions in Fort Worth & Azle

Our most requested bathroom project, built by a father-and-son team that doesn't rush the waterproofing.

Tub-to-shower conversions are the most requested bathroom project we do in Fort Worth and Azle. Done right, a walk-in shower makes a small bathroom feel bigger, makes daily life easier, and adds a feature buyers look for. Here's how we approach them.

Design choices worth thinking about

Curb or curbless

A standard curb is simpler and cheaper. A curbless, zero-threshold entry is the best option for accessibility and looks cleaner, but it requires recessing the pan into the slab, which adds work. We'll tell you honestly whether your floor allows it.

Glass

A fixed glass panel with an open entry keeps costs down and the look modern. A frameless door is the premium choice. A framed door or a curtain rod is perfectly fine for a secondary bath on a tight budget.

Niches and benches

A recessed niche for shampoo is almost free to add during framing and expensive to add later. A built-in bench adds comfort and safety. Both should be decided before tile starts.

Tile that holds up

Porcelain tile is the workhorse for North Texas bathrooms. It handles our hard water better than many natural stones, cleans easily, and comes in large formats that mean fewer grout lines. We'll steer you away from materials that look great in the showroom but age badly in a shower.

Why homeowners in Fort Worth and Azle call us for this

We're a small father-and-son team, which means the people who quote your job are the people who build it. Waterproofing is the part of a shower nobody sees and the part that fails when it's rushed. We don't rush it. See examples in our portfolio, read our Fort Worth bathroom remodel cost guide, or go back to the full bathroom remodeling page.

Frequently asked questions

Can you convert a bathtub to a walk-in shower in one week?

A straightforward tub-to-shower conversion with a prefab pan and tile walls is often done in about a week once materials are in hand. Custom tiled pans and glass take longer because the glass is measured after tile is set.

Is a walk-in shower good for aging in place?

Yes. A low or zero-threshold entry, a built-in bench, grab bars set into blocking, and a handheld fixture make a shower far safer than stepping over a tub wall. We plan for these during layout so they look built-in, not added on.

Will removing the tub hurt my home's value?

Most buyers prefer at least one tub in the house. If you have a second bathroom with a tub, converting the master to a walk-in shower is a common and well-received upgrade.

What's the difference between a prefab and a tiled shower pan?

A prefab pan is a molded acrylic or composite base that installs quickly and costs less. A tiled pan is built on site with a waterproofing system and lets you choose any tile, drain location and size. Both are waterproof when installed correctly.
